Our very first peaberry, this delectable coffee comes to us straight from the small farmers in Tanzania.
Peaberries are highly prized as a unique, hand-sorted breed of bean. Only 3-10% of all coffee beans are peaberries. The peaberry is a natural mutation, or defect, in coffee. Essentially, rather than the coffee cherry seed splitting into two flat sided half beans, the seed stays as one whole, rounded bean.
These peaberries are denser, slightly more acidic, but with a nice sweetness. We also find we don't need quite as much coffee for our typical brew ratios, so you might want to back off just a tad.
