Seated atop the “Macizo Colombiano” (the Colombian Plateau), surrounding the high peaks of Tolima and Huila, the municipality of Inzá is an important source of water, wildlife, and prime coffee growing.
A region historically dominated by FARC guerillas, violence had deterred many farmers to market their fine coffees. However, 10 brave coffee growers in 2004 took upon themselves the creation of ASORCAFE (Asociación de Productores de Café del Oriente Caucano) with the intent to focus on specialty coffee marketed by themselves, rather than private parchment buyers who were paying them below national prices. Now, this association is comprised of more than 450 coffee producers.
The 52 small farms that have been included in this beautiful lot of coffee were all specially chosen microlots from over 450 farms, based on the grade in cupping their product. This is a very limited lot, which we hope you enjoy as much as we do!
